this outstanding piece from jackie misfit, london based deejay, producer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist presents a harmonic collision between primal africa and western culture. complex in its structure, based on polyphonic singing technique called jodel and articulated together with the dance, pigmy music has much in common with contemporary dance music. the concept was to create the impression that the instruments were played by the tribe to give the impression of being around them. to gain that, jackie used a variety of drums, whistles, harps, instruments built of coconut shells, animal skins and sanza wood by pigmies and vocals recorded in congo rainforest during the tribal rituals. its crafted in the western manner but the inspiration. basic repetitive patterns, vocals and instruments used in this production are original. together with the title that translates as the community of love, and works as homage to the humanitarian organization in congo that is focused on preserving pygmies and their culture.

dixie yure is the incarnation of contemporary oldschool house music from seville. after some digital only releases it is about time for some haptic experience. with the 10“ record „show me satisfaction“ on berlin-based label fenou his sound is rotating on turntables for the first time. monotonous minimalism ain’t dixie yures world. the sound tends more towards 2step and builds a homogeneous and pleasant mixture with classical house elements and vocal parts. you just cant deny yourself dancing the >chicken dance< and stepping like hell! thanks to the funky improvisations extending over the whole track you wont get bored even after listening to >show me< for the hundredth time. the a-side is just fun - in the club as well as on your couch. you wont miss the low-pitched vocals on the b-side either as they are typical for the spanish producer. >satisfaction< is a little more reduced than >show me< but is enhanced with jazz elements such as pianos and saxophones. it shows that wind instruments in electronic music dont have to be annoying tribal elements. in this example acoustic instruments do not just get mixed up with house music but merge to one groove – absolutely rocking tune!

reworked data vol. 1 features bodycode applying the house and techno sensibility of his recent immune album for spectral sound to tejadas production, followed by labelmate broker/dealers sophisticated melding of the source materials nearly fifteen-year-old anvil vapre-era sense of melancholy to an insistent 4/4 rhythm. traum schallplattens dominik eulberg continues his tradition of developing elaborate, drawn-out explorations of the ebb and flow of techno dynamics by adapting the asymmetrical idm sounds of tejadas source into a persistently propulsive techno narrative. finally, ninja tune and plug researchs daedelus applies the accessible synthpop template of last years love to make music to to tejadas melodies — almost crafting another >fair weather friends< in the process.

who are these guys behind the pseudonyms? good guy mikesh and filburt are two music lovers… full stop! two independent acts that met in leipzig and began to merge their musical creative capacities two years ago. a convolution of disco, pop and house, propagating one of leipzigs most promising collaborative developments. good guy mikesh has haunted leipzigs contemporary underground for a long time. from the beginning of his musical career, his singles have signified an eclectic mix of pop, soul and disco. filburt - dj, record store owner and leipzig club scene veteran, was consequently good guy mikeshs best possible accomplice in the mission to break fresh ground. this mixture of soul, disco and house-pop is it, charged by the duos certain something - an energy sought for not only in this town, but throughout the whole scene. someone told me, their latest single, has been causing an outbreak of contagious enthusiasm in the scene since its release on permanent vacation this summer. we are proud to release this fine ep, which comes with a remix by one of our uk favorites: mark e !

the lucky discovery of farley jackmaster funks >fix me< revealed dan electro the connections between black music at its core roots and contemporary house music. shortly after, he started producing some amazing tunes that felt like love affairs between old church organs and mad computers... sung by ageless preachers & divas. his music has been played by djs such as gilles peterson, joey negro, sumo, recloose, dj morpheus, spiritual south, nick v, michael rutten, rainer truby, nik weston, unabombers, erik rug, philarmonix, patchworks, stevie sole... radios as bbc 1, frequence jazz, xfm scotland, radio fg, compost radioshow... enjoy !

aux-rec is being launched by airdrop records as an offshoot label designed with a specific mission in mind: to look back and pay tribute. aux-rec surveys musical history looking for those inspiring pieces of music (famous or forgotten) that carry a very distinctive groove and identity, and that offer the potential to be revisited in an ingenious contemporary way. at airdrop, we love music of all ages and of many genres! we feel aux-rec is a way for our artists and for us to pay our due respects to the origins and the evolution of contemporary dance music.
the existing airdrop roster of artists will be invited to contribute to aux-rec, but different artists will also be uncovered specifically for this project. off to a fresh start, franco cinelli and club rayo (a duo composed by rafael sorol and pablo terreil) engrave their long-time friendship on this record. franco cinellis first productions were released on the duos imprint club rayo disquets at the beginning of the millenium. the club rayo collective has been extremely active in the local argentinean scene for more than twelve years now.
going back to one of music historys greatest classics, >fever<, franco cinelli and club rayo bring their own interpretations to a theme that has known as many versions than people taking a sing at it in the shower! using ella fitzgeralds and elvis presleys voices, club rayo create repsectively the fitzgerald mix - a rocking dancefloor jam looping ellas fantastic voice bringing it to a culmination - and the king dub - a 118 bpm groove punctuated by elvis low-pitched and resonant tone. cuerdas is a short guitar instrumantal rendition of the fever theme. on his remix, franco cinelli creates a 10 minutes drum symphony, especially designed for the post-climatic hours. both producers kept in mind ellas famous quote when undertaking this great enterprise: >i stole everything i ever heard, but mostly i stole from the horns.<
the following releases on aux-rec will also be in the form of bootlegs, edits, re-works or samples (you name it). they will bring back memories to your heads and mostly the groove to your feet. to be true to its mission of a vintage exploration, aux-rec will be releasing exclusively on vinyl, in the tradition of the essential music format of the 20th century. there will be no digital releases at aux-rec. in the pipeline are soul claps edit of laid backs >bakerman< as well as le loups version of sheila es >a love bizarre<, produced by prince.

donovan is a french parisian duo consisting of david saïd and nicolas nekmouche, formed in 2007. influenced by black music, french touch and techno as much as contemporary artists, donovan created an original sound, melodic and also very club, with tracks like >breakin, released on work it baby, a track featuring jessica rizzo released on gigolo records etc. so combining their respective influences, they obtain tracks full of energy and depth. the band hits the bulls eye and remixes requests start to pour in. among them two tracks of sebastien tellier for record makers, teenage bad girl, arnaud rebotini and several rock bands. dont pass on this one !
